October at the re-pub

I've been interning with the Arizona Republic over the past month. Mostly daily stuff, and I think I have the hang of it. Now it's time to work on a project or story, so check back for an update...

Here's what I've got for you now:

More than 2,000 women and men accessorized in pink walked 60 miles over the weekend to fight breast cancer and raise money for research in the Arizona Breast Cancer 3-Day.

Most of the moms, daughters, sisters, friends, fathers and brothers had stories about why they were there, all connected by the cancer. Either they've had it, or are close to someone who has.

On the walk from Gilbert to downtown Phoenix, they befriended strangers, and shared stories of chemotherapy, radiation, MRIs and mammograms.
