Cheese!

I went back to high school today. It wasn't pretty. Freshmen orientation at Sinagua HS was this morning and I was there to cover every exciting moment. High school freshmen aren't known for being too quick, but today one of them has lowered the bar for all. During a tour I commented on a strict school rule, comparing it to Nazi Germany. Rather than laughing as I had expected, this bright young lady turns to her mom and asks, "What's that?"

Despite that comment, in the words of Anne Frank, "I believe that people are really good at heart."

While shooting an auditorium full of new students, I noticed these two peeking out from behind the curtains. I can't stand posed shots like this but the horribly fake smiles and peace sign make me smile for real.
